The Oldest Trick in The Book

First of all let me say that we need to be in prayer for those affected by Hurricane Ike. This has been a serious storm that has affected many thousands of fellow citizens in this country. So take a segment of time and pray and find out how you can be a BLESSING to those in that area. Whether it is making donations or volunteering, just do what the LORD has for you to do.

What is the oldest trick in The Book? What trick has been used on mankind since the fall in the Garden? Let’s look in The Book and see. Just like building a house we must first lay a foundation. I encourage you to get your Bible and let your eyes rest on the Words. I will be in Genesis 1, 2, and 3 and several other scriptures.

When God created all this it was perfect. There was no sin, destruction, famine, flood or lack. It was all perfect and in perfect balance. He created all the things that Adam would need to live the perfect life that God had for him. Then He created Adam from the dust of the Earth and breathed Life into him. Then God gave Adam authority over everything. God gave Adam Authority over everything, remember that. Adam was created in God’s image. Did God have Authority? That same Authority was transferred to Adam. Then God created Adam a help meet and Adam called her Woman because she was taken from man. They were told to dress and keep the Garden, be fruitful and multiply, have dominion over everything, and to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And the Bible says that they were not ashamed of the fact that they were naked because the oldest trick had not been played yet.

Now, lets look in Genesis 3:
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Did you spot it? Did you see the oldest trick being played? In chapter 2 verse 25 the Bible says they were not ashamed. In chapter 3 verse 8 they hid when God walked through the Garden. What had changed? Adam did not do what God had given him the authority to do! In fact, the authority that Adam had was now in the hands of the devil. You may ask, “Well where do you get that?” 2 Corinthians 4:4 refers to the devil as the god of this world. 1 Timothy 2:14 says that Adam was not deceived but that the woman was deceived in the transgression. So, what happened? Fear had entered in!

Lets look a little closer; Adam and the Woman (she was not called Eve yet) were in the Garden walking with daily with God and dressing and keeping the Garden. But the devil slipped in and started up a conversation with the Woman. 1st mistake- Don’t give ear to the devil! Then the devil questioned what God had said. 2nd mistake- Know what God says in His Word. Then Adam who was standing there with his wife allowed her to partake of the fruit and he did too. 3rd mistake- He didn’t believe God’s Word. Sin hit this planet and everything that was good became bad. The man and woman died spiritually. They became separated from the Love and Life of God who had been their spiritual Father. Faith became fear and the devil became their spiritual father.

Where is that in the Bible? In John 8 Jesus said “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” Jesus said that they were of their father the devil. I didn’t say it, Jesus did! But that one act of disobedience plunged mankind into eternal separation from God. Sin, sickness, poverty, hate, fear- all that was associated with the devil hit this planet. The BLESSING became the Curse. But thank God, He had a plan of redemption for us. His name is Jesus! Those who know Jesus as LORD don’t have to fall for the oldest trick in the Book anymore! You don’t have to walk around in fear anymore! No fear of death, lack, or sickness! Praise God!!

I had the news on this morning to see what is happening in Texas with Ike. It is plain to see that the oldest trick in the Book is being played again. People are in fear that they are going to run out of gas and be without. That is fear in its purest form. What is the basis for this fear that has swept this country the last 36 hours? The refineries shut down till the storm blew over. And the news media whipped people into a frenzy that there was not going to be any gas. People were lined up waiting to get gas. It looked very much like the gas crisis of the 70’s. Gas prices spiked to over $6 a gallon yesterday because of fear. Just like when the weatherman says “Snow” and people rush to the store for milk and bread. A response that is driven entirely by fear.
When you are walking in THE BLESSING you have no business walking or operating in fear. Go to God’s Word and see what belongs to you! All the Blessings in Deuteronomy 28 are ours! The BLESSING of Abraham is ours and on top of that we are Children of the Most High God, heirs of God and joint-heirs with JESUS! Is there any lack in Heaven? Is God lacking in anything? Then why would His children lack for anything?

Learn who you are in Christ Jesus. Go to the Word of God and know what is involved to be walking in THE BLESSING. Then walk in the fullness of THE BLESSING! There is no fear in THE BLESSING! I serve a God who is more than enough! He supplies all my needs! There is no lack, no want, and no fear in God! I am a tither and a giver and the windows of heaven are open and the devourer has been rebuked! (Philippians 4:19, Malachi 3:10-12)

If you have not made Jesus LORD of your life then you definitely have a reason to be in fear because fear is in you. First of all you are separated from the Love and Life of God. The devil is your spiritual father and he is the father of fear, lack, sickness, poverty, spiritual death and all lies. If you die in that condition, Hell will be your home for all eternity. (I am not trying to make you afraid to die, that fear is already in you. I am telling you the truth based on the Bible) You can change that today and become a Child of the King! Just ask Jesus to come into your heart, to be LORD of your life. You can change families that easily.
